    Microsoft Office is a hub of software programs developed by the Microsoft corporation. The services offered by Microsoft Office are, without argument, the most favored. And fairly so! The programs offered include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook. All the programs perform distinct operations and are consistent with other programs mentioned. Microsoft Office is the standard software used for all professional documentation.

    Microsoft Office 2010, the code name of which is Office 14, was launched on June 15, 2010. It succeeds Microsoft Office 7 and precedes Microsoft Office 2013. It is an edition of the Microsoft Office productivity suite. Some of the features which were added to Microsoft Office 2010 include backstage view, a new interface introduced by Microsoft Office 2010. The office button added by Microsoft Office 2007 was replaced by file tab and it serves the same purpose.

    Microsoft Office 2013 whose code name is Office 15, was launched on January 29, 2013. The construction of this version of the Microsoft Office started in 2010 and was finished on October 11, 2012. Microsoft Office 13 has a variety of different versions including three feature that are for retail marketplace, two of them are used for volume licensing channel, five subscription based features and more! Some of the newly added features include remodeled start screen, new graphic choices in Microsoft Word, introduction of new animations, slide designs, and transitions in Microsoft PowerPoint. The visualization for the scheduled tasks in Microsoft Outlook was rebuilt. A new option for going back to the place of last edit or view was introduced.  What’s more, a new feature supports the amalgamation of Skype, Yammer, and SkyDrive and Outlook.com and Hotmail.com are supported in Microsoft Outlook.

    Office also removed sundry features which had become redundant and discarded those from the entire Microsoft Office suite. Some of the previously existing features of Microsoft Office which were removed include , Microsoft SharePoint work space, Microsoft clip organizer, Microsoft Office picture manager, chart layouts for Office 2007 and Office 2010. Additionally, the insertion of 3D cone, pyramid or cylinder chart is not supported.

    Microsoft word, PowerPoint and Outlook particularly removed several attributes from Microsoft 2013. For instance, clear type is not used in Microsoft Word 2013, custom XML markup has been discarded by Microsoft Word 13 on legal grounds, previous Word Art materials have been replaced by new Word Art materials, Microsoft PowerPoint 13 does not support vision drawings etc. Outlook Mobile Service, also known as OMS, has also been discarded. Outlook activities tab has been removed and the search through window shell has been disabled.

    Removal of the background
    The background of the pictures inserted in documents could be removed in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word through a new feature.

    Microsoft Office 2010 allows advanced cropping in pictures in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word. The cropping tool after the area is selected shows the area to be cropped in gray and the part to be retained in color. This preview is more helpful than removing the cropped part altogether.

    One can immediately insert captured screenshots of an open screen in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word without saving it as a file. This feature helps in saving time and memory. Also, it allows adjustments after the screenshot is inserted.

    Role-based user interface
    This version is tailored for professionals involved in research and development, sales and human resource, making it more role-based than its predecessor. Microsoft 2010 incorporates share point features and borrows from web2.0 ideas.

    Microsoft Office 2010 received many positive reviews from critics upon its release. The modified ribbon feature and the backstage view won a huge applause.  Most reviewers appreciated the customizable ribbon feature, the improved image and video editing, the facility of rendering online PowerPoint presentations, and faster applications access. The critics called these features ‘compelling’. Despite the positive reviews, the first two weeks of sales were lower than its predecessor, however it was compensated soon after. The parent company made a record profit for the Microsoft Office 2010 and it contributed to an laudable first quarter profit for Microsoft. Over six million copies were sold by November 2010, more than 30 copies being sold per minute.The sales grew over the following year, and Microsoft reported five times faster sales of the product than its predecessor.
